In professional football, the play would not have counted. Within the last two minutes of the half or the game, if the ball hits the ground on a lateral, it is a fumble and can only be recovered by the player who threw it. I don't know the rule in Division CCLXVIII football.

Worst... tackling...ever... Honestly, the team that lost this game should fire their defensive coordinator. Why do you have 6 guys down field when the pass was already made? There's no way that play should have happened. The miracle really is that this team only had 28 points against them! :-D

with laterals, the ball stays live even if it contacts the ground. either team can recover it and play continues--like fumbles. if it were a forward pass and the ball hit the ground, it would have been ruled incomplete

I have a question for anyone that can answer...in the video at 1:20-1:22 the ball hits the ground and bounces... why wasnt that a dead ball?
